Fosters Cup
The third Fosters Cup had a qualifying round reduced from 1,080 matches to a mere 930 with 31 groups of 6 teams with the top 2 from each group going through and then the best 2 3rd placed teams also making it through to the knock-out round. The 31 group winners plus one randomly selected 2nd placed team would be at home in the first round of the Cup, after that it was all pot-luck.
Jim eventually triumphed, sealing the tournament at the Quarter-Final stage.
